Failure: The Road to Success!

Failure Road To Success

Road To Success

Failure:  The Road to Success!

Don’t allow your failures to hold you back:

How many times in your life have you started a new venture, relationship, business,  college course and or fitness regime?

All of us have at some point, haven’t we?

Now how many times have you failed all or some of the above?

Well if you are like most people, including me, the answer probably is more times than you have succeeded.

Now here is the difference between  those who succeed in life and those that don’t!!

Those who succeed get back up and start again.  They analyse the situation and try to assess where they went wrong.

  • Were they being lazy
  • Maybe didn’t have the skills needed
  • Couldn’t be bothered!
  • No time

AND MANY OTHER EXCUSES!!!!

End Failure, Start Success

Now this is where the change has to begin.  If you know where you went wrong then decide to fix it.  If you know that you messed up your college course because you didn’t get your course work in on time, then work out how you can fix that!

Maybe you failed in your dieting attempts because you ate a fresh cream doughnut this morning and now you think you have ruined everything.  Might as well give up! Its not worth it!  You won’t ever be able to do it!  Instead you should be addressing what caused you to eat that doughnut in the first place, was it a bad day, were you hungry or were you just being greedy.  Once you know the cause and you are honest with yourself, you can fix it!

Recognise that being sad makes you want to eat sweet stuff and find another way to deal with it, punch something, go to the gym, ring a friend!   If you were hungry then always have a healthy snack with you so your not tempted.

Stop making excuses for your bad behaviour.  If you messed up, admit where you went wrong, pick yourself up and start again.

One thing you must do is learn from the mistakes you make!

You are not really a human being if you don’t fail, but the difference between people who sit and cry about it and those who succeed later down the line, is that the successful people recognise:

YOU WILL FAIL, OR BE A FAILURE MORE TIMES IN LIFE MORE THAN YOU WILL SUCCEED, OR BE A SUCCESS!!

If something bad happens in your life and you dwell on it you will achieve nothing whilst you sit and mope about.  Laugh it off and just jump straight back on the band wagon!

Here is a little personal story to illustrate this point.  One of my children would become very emotional when she had a disagreement with her ex-partner.  When she became angry she would ring him constantly and tell him a thing or two.  Then she would ring me and cry ‘Mum I’ve made an idiot out of myself again!’  ‘What shall I do?’  Now my answer was simple and straight to the point!  I would tell her that she had to understand what situations made her re-act in such an aggressive manner and then avoid them.  If she did now and again ‘ kick off’, she should laugh it off and not allow it to worry her.  Now this is the most important bit of the advice:

IF FOR SOME REASON IN YOUR DAY YOU TAKE A STEP BACKWARDS, MAKE SURE BY THE TIME YOU HAVE GONE TO BED YOU HAVE TAKEN TWO STEPS FORWARD!!!

What I advised her to do was forget the argument and pick up the paint brush and paint her kitchen (which had been waiting for months to be done)  and while she was doing that concentrate on the dissertion she had to hand in for University and have a piece of paper handy.  I told her to write down anything that popped into her mind to do with Stem Cells while she painted.

By doing these two things she did not give her brain the time to think about the idiot she had made of herself on the phone earlier that day!  She went to bed without the feeling of failure she would have had if she had sat and cried, and she had a great sense of achievement and success.

Needless to say I have a lot of these phone calls.  That is maybe because my friends and family can see that I have failed many times in my life but in the last six years I haven’t learnt to deal with these failures differently and they want to do the same.

NONE OF US WANT TO BE A SERIAL FAILURE, WE WANT TO BE A SUCCESS!!

I hope this has helped your or given you some insight.  Most of the famous people we associate with success and wealth have all failed many times before they succeeded and they still do!

Just take it on the chin, pick yourself up and start again learning from your mistakes!
